As you now Robert Rodriguez is producing a new Predator film, with Nimrod Antal directing. The movie will be called Predators, and is set to be released July 7, 2010. The film involves an intense group of people stranded on a Predator planet discovering unspeakable horrors, that are not always from outside their group.
The guy doing the special effects on the film is Howard Berger for the effects shop KNB. He recently did an interview in which he talks about what the predator is going to look like, and I think your going to like what he say’s.
I loved what the Predator looked like in the first film, he was real and gritty! After the first film, especially with the Aliens Vs. Predator movies, the costumes sucked. They just looked cheap and slapped together. They looked fake! They aren’t suppose to look fake! The rest of the effects in those film sucked as well. This new Predators film is going back to the original source of the costume design to bring it back to life.
Berger, who used to work for Stan Winston had this to say:
'We wanted to have the Predator look as it did in the original film. We went back and looked at the original. I actually worked in the shop with Stan Winston on the first film. It was great to be able to go back to the series having not been involved in any of the sequels, and it was also great to be able to make sure we built them as Stan Winston did.'
That just makes me happy. What makes me even more happy is what Berger has to say about what they look like, because he’s seen the new outfits.
'They look really fantastic. There’s a whole bunch of cool [Predator's] in the film, and everyone’s going to be very happy that we’ve been very faithful to the Stan Winston designs. It’s out next year. It’s shooting very soon.'
I’m excited to see how what this movie ends up being. I was not a fan of the Aliens Vs. Predators crap at all. So it will be cool to see a new Predator story unfold, with decent looking predator costumes and effects. What do you all think?
