Warner Bros.' New Line Cinema has hired veteran screenwriter Wesley Strick to pen the relaunch of the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" series.
The original Nightmare was written and directed by Wes Craven and released in 1984. The new project will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Freddy Krueger himself.

Who wants more Jeepers Creepers news? “I do,I do!” Well, here’s the best we’ve had in a while and not a moment too soon if you ask me!
Our friends over at Dread Central caught up with Salva to give them an update on the project and some details about the story, “The financing is just coming together, so perhaps we will be in preproduction shortly,” Salva tells Dread. “We have been saying this for a year now, but that’s really about all I can with any certainty.”
“Breck will of course don his wings once again as our favorite flying man-eater, though we have decided, after much fan feedback, to give him his truck back for the new film. Gina Phillips will be back in Jeepers Threepers (as we like to call it) playing Trisha Jenner, 23 years later, a successful business woman who has her own teenage son, Darry, named after her long lost brother.”
“We have decided that the third film should, like one and two, be different from each other in look and locale,“Salva contines. “After all, the highway in question “runs the length of the state. So you may be missing your Spanish moss again and much of the story takes place in the desert part of our fictitious Jeepers state that includes Poho, Pertwilla, and Kissell County.”
The working title right now is Jeepers Creepers: Cathedral. This one will probably be a straight to DVD movie, but who knows, MGM has been behind this franchise and believed in it so we’ll see. I personally want a theatrical release!

Here’s a “beautiful” Hi-Res poster for the sixth film in the Saw franchise, Saw VI. I love how they get all fancy with the roman numerals. Or if you wanna add some spanish flavor, Saw Seis.
Just like the Blood Drive Nurse, even with how gross and wrong this poster is, I’ve gotta admit it’s very well done. Just not my cup o’ tea.
Check it out, click image for Hi-Res, and let us know what you think!
The next installment of the Saw franchise chronicles Jigsaw, his message and his followers. In theaters on October 23rd .
As you know Iron Man 2 is currently in the post production phase of movie making. It is going through the editing, sound, and special effects process. The main villain in the film is Whiplash who is being played by Mickey Rourke. We have seen a couple images of him in his early whiplash outfit. It looks pretty gnarly. To get you up to speed on who whiplash is and get to know the villain a little bit better Marvel’s kicking off a four-issue IRON MAN VS. WHIPLASH limited series beginning in November.
«Before he flays the metal off of Tony Stark’s hide in ‘Iron Man 2,’ this is every True Believer’s chance to crawl inside the twisted head of the wicked Whiplash,” boasts Editor Bill Rosemann. “If it’s jet-setting, globe-trotting, eye-popping action you crave, IRON MAN VS. WHIPLASH will make you believe that Tony Stark is indeed a cool exec with a heart of steel…and Whiplash is the fiend that will break it!»
Below you will find the Whiplash character design for the comic book, and the cover art for the first issue of IRON MAN VS. WHIPLASH. The Whiplash design is pretty cool, but I seriously doubt that this is the same design that will be used in the movie. First of all I know Marvel wants to keep the actual movie design under wraps as long as they can. Second of all if they were going off the movie designs then the Iron man suit used in the cover of the comic would resemble the Iron Man suit of the movie more. It may have the same basic design but the details are different. I just think the Whiplash design in the film is going to look much cooler. What do you all think? Source: GeekTyrant.com
In the second installment of Stephenie Meyer's phenomenally successful Twilight series, the romance between mortal and vampire soars to a new level as Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) delves deeper into the mysteries of the supernatural world she yearns to become part of—only to find herself in greater peril than ever before.
Following Bella's ill-fated 18th birthday party, Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and his family abandon the town of Forks, Washington, in an effort to protect her from the dangers inherent in their world. As the heartbroken Bella sleepwalks through her senior year of high school, numb and alone, she discovers Edward's image comes to her whenever she puts herself in jeopardy. Her desire to be with him at any cost leads her to take greater and greater risks.
With the help of her childhood friend Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner), Bella refurbishes an old motorbike to carry her on her adventures. Bella’s frozen heart is gradually thawed by her budding relationship with Jacob, a member of the mysterious Quileute tribe, who has a supernatural secret of his own.
When a chance encounter brings Bella face to face with a former nemesis, only the intervention of a pack of supernaturally large wolves saves her from a grisly fate, and the encounter makes it frighteningly clear that Bella is still in grave danger. In a race against the clock, Bella learns the secret of the Quileutes and Edward’s true motivation for leaving her. She also faces the prospect of a potentially deadly reunion with her beloved that is a far cry from the one she'd hoped for.

It seems that the latest Hogwarts adventure is off to a record-breaking start. According to Variety, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince took in an estimated $22.2 million from midnight screenings.
The mark would be more than enough to break The Dark Knight's $18 million midnight screening record set last summer as well as Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith's $17 million midnight tally.
While the Potter films have always been box-office juggernauts, analysts believe that Potter is more popular than ever lately, which some attribute to J.K. Rowling's last book in the series coming out, and some attribute to the two-year gap between films. The last film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which also opened on a mid-July Wednesday, took in $12 million from midnight shows en route to a $139.7 million five-day gross.
It seems that more record-breaking numbers could be in store for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, so be sure to check back for the latest updates.

Together they work to find the key to unlock Voldemort's defenses and, to this end, Dumbledore recruits his old friend and colleague, the well-connected and unsuspecting bon vivant Professor Horace Slughorn, whom he believes holds crucial information. Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry finds himself more and more drawn to Ginny, but so is Dean Thomas. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.

ShockTillYouDrop.com has reported that Sony's Screen Gems is planning a September 17, 2010 release for Resident Evil 4, which could go by the title Resident Evil: Afterlife. Paul W.S. Anderson revealed late last year he was indeed writing the next film, but no word on whether he will direct.
Another popular horror series is continuing on and the director of the original series has spoken about the new films. Digital Spy recently interviewed Wes Craven who had a few things to say about Scream 4.
What's the status with Scream 4 at the moment? Are we going to see you direct it?
"Bob Weinstein (The Weinstein Company co-chairman) has talked to me, he's interested in me directing it. I had a brief conversation with Kevin [Williamson], I know that Kevin is writing. What I've said to Bob is I'm not closed to it, I'm not open to it, I'll be perfectly happy to read a script and tell him what I think. That's where it's at and I'm not expecting a script until August. I don't know what the premise is or anything."
Do you know what form it's taking? The word 'reboot' has been used.
"I don't think it's a reboot and Kevin, when he talked to me, said, 'Remember, it's not just Scream 4, it's Scream 5 and 6.' So I guess he has a trilogy in mind."
Click here for more of the site's interview with Craven.
Will this even be worth seeing if Wes Craven isn't directing? I personally can't even remember the last time Kevin Williamson wrote something worthwhile. A whole new trilogy is intriguing, but does the world really need 3 more Scream movies where some unlikely killer is revealed at the end of the movie that makes you just sigh in a fit of boredom? I'd say we're better without.

We all know that the last Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be split into two films... but where will they split? Empire Online recently chatted with star Daniel Radcliffe and director David Heyman, who revealed some clues as to where the first and second film will be split up.
"We've played around with a couple of places," said Heyman, "and ultimately settled on a place that we think is very exciting, and I think quite bold, in that it's not necessarily where one might expect. You want to give a sense of completion, on one hand, but a sense that there's another piece, more to come. We tried one and then Steve (Kloves, screenwriter) came up with the idea to try it another way and when we tried that, it felt just right."
Radcliffe also added that the film breaks off, "at a very tense cliffhanger." Click here to read more on the film split.
