HE-MAN Movie Ends up over at Sony Pictures.

After Warner Bros. dropped the ball on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Producer Joel Silver just couldn’t get it together, for one reason or another. So, Mattel took back the rights and sold them to Sony. Now that Sony has it they are going to start from scratch.Sony and Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch will now start developing He-Man for Columbia Pictures. Unfortunately this producing team has developed some pretty bad films in the past, like The Taking of Pelham 123, Knowing, and Seven Pounds. So it looks like this will be their first fantasy action film, and as much as I want to be excited about this movie getting made, now that I see who is involved my excitment is dwindling. Before the film was described as being as epic as Lord of the Rings. If they are starting from scratch then I guess that’s not going to happen.John Stevenson was previously attached to direct the film, but if they are starting from scratch he may not be involved any longer. Justin Marks and Evan Daugherty both wrote great versions of the script for Warner Bros. The WB will retain the rights to those scripts, so Sony is going to have to find a new writer.I wish this would have worked out at Warner Bros. Everything seemed so promising. We were going to get a hardcore epic He-Man movie! Now who knows what we are going to get from a team of producers that have mostly produced crap. The only movie I liked that they did was The Pursuit of Happiness. Care to share you thoughts?

AFTERSCHOOL Movie Trailer is Intense.

This movie looks like it is going to be incredibly intense. The trailer itself is pretty horrific. The film was written and directed by Antonio Campos, this is his debut feature film, and it looks like he hit a home run. It looks like he did a fantastic job, the trailer just grabbed me and I am really looking forward to seeing this film.

A truly impressive new voice in American indie film, Antonio Campos arrives with AFTERSCHOOL, a riveting look at the dark side of youth in the media age. An official selection of the Cannes, Berlin, SXSW and New York Film Festivals in 2008, this outstanding feature debut was also nominated for 2 Gotham awards including Best Director, and the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.

Robert is a young American student at an elite East Coast preparatory school. When he accidentally captures on camera the horrific death of two girls, he’s tasked with memorializing their lives in a film meant to help speed up the school’s healing process. For some, this exercise only deepens the trauma…

New One Sheet For TRANSYLMANIA.

This Transylmania one sheet resembles the old school Buffy The Vampire Slayer poster, don’t you think? Hitting theaters on December 4th from Full Circle Releasing we will see what this campy slayer comedy is all about.

Synopsis: Directed by David Hillenbrand and Scott Hillenbrand, the film follows a motley group of college students who embark on a semester at Razvan University. Located deep in the heart of the “cursed land” of Transylvania in a centuries-old castle, Razvan isn’t your typical institution of higher learning – and the black leather-clad professors, three-foot-tall dean, instruction in crucifix-wielding, and topless vampiresses lurking in dark corners are just the start. It seems Castle Razvan was overtaken by a band of vampires led by the feared Vampire King Radu in the dark ages who’s come back to reclaim it.

Patrick Cavanaugh, James DeBello, Tony Denman, Paul Kim, Jennifer Lyons, Oren Skoog and David Steinburg star.

SAW VI Poster - Trust In Him.

If “trusting in him ” means that I have to cut off my hands and make them into boxing gloves, you can count me out!

Here’s a “beautiful” Hi-Res poster for the sixth film in the Saw franchise, Saw VI. I love how they get all fancy with the roman numerals. Or if you wanna add some spanish flavor, Saw Seis.

Just like the Blood Drive Nurse, even with how gross and wrong this poster is, I’ve gotta admit it’s very well done. Just not my cup o’ tea.

Check it out, click image for Hi-Res, and let us know what you think!

The next installment of the Saw franchise chronicles Jigsaw, his message and his followers. In theaters on October 23rd .

Whiplash Design for IRON MAN VS. WHIPLASH Comic Book Series.

As you know Iron Man 2 is currently in the post production phase of movie making. It is going through the editing, sound, and special effects process. The main villain in the film is Whiplash who is being played by Mickey Rourke. We have seen a couple images of him in his early whiplash outfit. It looks pretty gnarly. To get you up to speed on who whiplash is and get to know the villain a little bit better Marvel’s kicking off a four-issue IRON MAN VS. WHIPLASH limited series beginning in November.

«Before he flays the metal off of Tony Stark’s hide in ‘Iron Man 2,’ this is every True Believer’s chance to crawl inside the twisted head of the wicked Whiplash,” boasts Editor Bill Rosemann. “If it’s jet-setting, globe-trotting, eye-popping action you crave, IRON MAN VS. WHIPLASH will make you believe that Tony Stark is indeed a cool exec with a heart of steel…and Whiplash is the fiend that will break it!»

Below you will find the Whiplash character design for the comic book, and the cover art for the first issue of IRON MAN VS. WHIPLASH. The Whiplash design is pretty cool, but I seriously doubt that this is the same design that will be used in the movie. First of all I know Marvel wants to keep the actual movie design under wraps as long as they can. Second of all if they were going off the movie designs then the Iron man suit used in the cover of the comic would resemble the Iron Man suit of the movie more. It may have the same basic design but the details are different. I just think the Whiplash design in the film is going to look much cooler. What do you all think?

SDCC 2009: Peter Jackson Reveals the Casting Secrets Behind The Hobbit.

While out promoting his producing credit on the new Neill Blomkamp sci-fi smash-em-up District 9, Peter Jackson talked about the Guillermo del Toro directed The Hobbit. Here is what he had to say:

Peter Jackson: With The Hobbit, I really don't want to be too involved in looking over the shoulder of the director. That's why I choose Guillermo. I wanted to produce it so that I didn't have to compete with myself. The Lord of the Rings movies were the best films that I could make. I poured my heart and soul into those films. I thought I gave those films everything, and with The Hobbit, I'd have to go there again. I felt I would be competing against myself. I didn't want to figure out how I shot it all before. I didn't want to figure out how to do it all again. I didn't want to do that. I thought it would be best to figure that all out with someone else. They could figure out a new way to deal with it. It could be fresh. At the same time, I am still involved, so that it feels like the same word.

Can you update us on the status of the Hobbit?

Peter Jackson: I know there is a lot of talk about casting. Well, we are about three weeks from turning over the first Hobbit script to the studio. The process we have been through so far is that we've written a treatment of the two films. We pitched that to the studio, and that went well. We worked through the storyline, and realized we could make one three-hour movie, but it's amazing how much stuff you would loose. The book is what the book is, and we wanted to include all the scenes we wanted to see. We also wanted to add more Gandalf, so we thought two movies was the best way to go. We haven't done any casting. That is the truth. We haven't offered any role to any actor. . Everything is a process, and we don't have a green light. You need a budget. When you offer a film to an actor, you have to have a budget and a script. You also have to have a date. They want to know when they start and when they finish. Its not until we break the film down that we can get a budget and a greenlight. Which we haven't got. We are thinking of releasing the movies in December 2011 and 2012. That is what we are aiming for. But we are only aiming for it, and the studio wont sign off until they are happy. As soon as we finish a first draft, we will figure out what we need as far as the cast.

Have you thought about any body you want to cast?

Peter Jackson: Of course. Anyone that was in the first three movies, we want to have back. We want the actors that originated the characters. That goes without saying. In terms of new characters, we are talking about people. But that would be wrong to bring up here. The key bit of casting will be the dwarves. They are important characters in that they have many personalities. We are hashing that out with the script, and we couldn't lock down who we wanted until we finished the script. Are they the seven dwarfs? We need to know who each one is, and what kind of actor would suit that role. We aren't really thinking about who these people are at this point. This is logistically very difficult.

The Hobbit is set to be released in December of 2011.
