TV Wand Changes The Channel With Magic!

Let's face it: pushing buttons on a remote to change the channel on your television is archaic and embarrassing. What we need are a bunch of magic wands to wave around like assholes! Well we're in luck! Enter the Kymera Magic Wand.

It works like a standard universal learning remote but thanks to a built-in accelerometer it's able to recognize "magical gestures" instead of just pushing buttons.

So for example, to turn the volume up or down on your TV you'd simply make clockwise or counter-clockwise gestures with the wand, and to change the channel you'd either flick it up or down. All-in-all there are 13 different gestures recognized by the wand that you can custom-program including big swish, push forward, pull back and even multi-taps.

The wand is allegedly real and will set you back around $84 when they start shipping next month. Alternatively, have a child sit in front of the television and yell at them when you want the channel changed. Isn't that right, dad? Who's your little #1 remote?!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Takes in $22.2 Million from Midnight Shows!

It seems that the latest Hogwarts adventure is off to a record-breaking start. According to Variety, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince took in an estimated $22.2 million from midnight screenings.

The mark would be more than enough to break The Dark Knight's $18 million midnight screening record set last summer as well as Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith's $17 million midnight tally.

While the Potter films have always been box-office juggernauts, analysts believe that Potter is more popular than ever lately, which some attribute to J.K. Rowling's last book in the series coming out, and some attribute to the two-year gap between films. The last film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which also opened on a mid-July Wednesday, took in $12 million from midnight shows en route to a $139.7 million five-day gross.

It seems that more record-breaking numbers could be in store for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, so be sure to check back for the latest updates.

Harry Potter Mystery: Where They’ll Split Deathly Hallows.

Ever since it was announced that Warner Bros. was going to be spitting the final volume of the Harry Potter Book series into two films, Potter fans have all been wondering just where the big cut was going to be made between Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II.

The L.A. Times recently sat down with director David Yates to talk about Deathly Hallows, and that interview yielded the info you Potter fans have been clamoring for. According to the L.A. Times, Yates called the paper to update them on the filming of Deathly Hallows and was, in fact, shooting the very scene that will be the lead-in to the climax of the first installment:

We’re here in the forest, we’ve just finished the scene where Harry, Hermione and Ron are captured by the Snatchers after being chased through the woods. The Snatchers are brutal and scary but they aren’t the most intelligent of creatures.They’re trying to figure out exactly who it is they’ve caught.So there you have it. I’ve only ever read the first three Harry Potter books (seen all the films), so to me, this “revelation” isn’t that revealing. But if you HAVE read Deathly Hallows, I’m sure you know how far into it the scene that Yates describes occurs and what comes soon after: that’s your ending to Deathly Hallows: Part I. Now you know.

New Hints on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Film Split.

We all know that the last Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, will be split into two films... but where will they split? Empire Online recently chatted with star Daniel Radcliffe and director David Heyman, who revealed some clues as to where the first and second film will be split up.

"We've played around with a couple of places," said Heyman, "and ultimately settled on a place that we think is very exciting, and I think quite bold, in that it's not necessarily where one might expect. You want to give a sense of completion, on one hand, but a sense that there's another piece, more to come. We tried one and then Steve (Kloves, screenwriter) came up with the idea to try it another way and when we tried that, it felt just right."

Radcliffe also added that the film breaks off, "at a very tense cliffhanger." Click here to read more on the film split.

O manuscrito inédito foi o destaque num leilão de caridade em Londres.
Um prelúdio inédito às aventuras de Harry Potter, que JK Rowling escreveu especialmente e doou para um leilão de caridade, foi ontem vendido por €31.600 na livraria Waterstone's de Picadilly em Londres.

O manuscrito autografado de 800 palavras foi vendido conjuntamente com histórias originais (todas escritas numa folha A5) de outros doze escritores, entre os quais Nick Hornby, Doris Lessing, Tom Stoppard e Sebastian Faulks, que realizaram um total de €59.650 em favor das organizações English PEN e Dyslexia Action, num leilão em que só se podia participar por convite.

De acordo com a agência Bloomberg, o comprador foi Hira Digpal, um britânico de 36 anos, presidente da consultora de serviços bancário de investimento Red -33, sediada em Tóquio e que declarou que até estava disposto a pagar o dobro pelo manuscrito, no caso da parada ter sido mais elevada. De acordo com a mesma agência noticiosa, dos 100 convidados na sala onde decorreu o leilão, apenas um disputou a peça com Digpal, que tem a intenção de usar o manuscrito para angariar mais fundos para caridade.

A compilação dos 13 textos vai ser publicada pela Waterstone's e vai estar disponível ao público em Agosto, mas quem não quiser esperar, pode ler no site da livraria a breve aventura que precede a saga do jovem feiticeiro e que termina com a frase: "Do prelúdio no qual eu não estou a trabalhar, mas que foi divertido!".
