DVD Review: GRACE (2009).

Paul Solet has introduced us to Grace and the we are falling in love with baby Grace!

Grace is not your everyday little horror flick.First of all it’s “villain” is a newborn baby and alot of people don’t like children/baby scenes like this movie has.Don’t get me wrong, they aren’t that bad,it’s usually the people who over react! There is plenty of blood, flies and a cat!The creepier the better for me!It kind of reminds me of It’s Alive!Grace is my favorite “horror” flick of 2009…..so far!

Grace tells the story of Madelaine Matheson(Jordan Ladd) and her husband Michael(Stephen Park)who are having a baby, certain unexpected things happen that sets a turn of events that will simply creep you out.Jordan Ladd’s character goes through a slow and dark deteriorating change throughout the movie and makes you feel sorry for her character Madelaine.Madelaine deals with a personal loss, controlling people in her life and her fight to keep baby Grace with her and also keeping her alive! There are a few disturbing scenes in this movie that might get to some people but suck it up you wussy’s,you knew this wasn’t a Disney flick. As Grace finally came to it’s close i found myself actually wanting more!

Paul Solet has solidified himself as one of the new breed of writer/director’s,he is on the map and i can’t wait to see what he does next!I interviewed one of Grace’s producers Adam Green(Hatchet,Spiral) about this project several months ago and he told me how cool it was going to be and it sure didn’t disappoint!Even the freakin poster is cool and extra features you don’t want to miss! And speaking of the extras i have a special new found respect for Paul Solet on the way he got this film out, basically he hit the street and put his heart, soul, word of mouth and sweat in it!Great job Paul!

Adventure. Innovative director Spike Jonze collaborates with celebrated author Maurice Sendak to bring one of the most beloved books of all time to the big screen in “Where the Wild Things Are,” a classic story about childhood and the places we go to figure out the world we live in. The film tells the story of Max, a rambunctious and sensitive boy who feels misunderstood at home and escapes to where the Wild Things are. Max lands on an island where he meets mysterious and strange creatures whose emotions are as wild and unpredictable as their actions. The Wild Things desperately long for a leader to guide them, just as Max longs for a kingdom to rule. When Max is crowned king, he promises to create a place where everyone will be happy. Max soon finds, though, that ruling his kingdom is not so easy and his relationships there prove to be more complicated than he originally thought.

Greta Trailer.

Greta’s a trip, but she’s not a vacation. She’s seventeen, bright, beautiful and seriously rebellious, full of sarcastic wit that barely disguises the hurt inside. Pushed aside by her mother, Karen, who is on her third marriage and counting, Greta is shipped off to her grandparents for the summer, and she’s not happy about it. In fact, she tells them that she fully intends to kill herself before the summer is over and is currently compiling a notebook of suicide methods. Acerbic, yet winningly impulsive, Greta is a stunning force of nature, disrupting her grandparents’ staid and settled lives and the Jersey Shore community they live in as well. But a near catastrophe gives Greta a wake-up call and demonstrates how deeply her own actions impact those around her.

Greta’s growing love for her elderly grandparents, along with the excitement of her first summer romance, gradually strips away her defenses, revealing the promising, charismatic young woman underneath her shell.

Hilary Duff, Ellen Burstyn, Evan Ross and Michael Murphy star in Greta, an interracial teen romance now filming in Ocean Grove, New Jersey for Whitewater Films. Duff plays the title role of a waitress who falls for a charismatic, young short-order cook (Ross), only to find out he’s been in and out of a juvenile correctional facility for stealing cars. Now he’s determined to do something with his life, but as their romance heats up, Greta has to overcome the concerns of her grandparents (Burstyn, Murphy) about her new friend’s criminal past.

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant Trailer.

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, based on the popular series of books by Darren Shan, is a fantasy-adventure about a teenager who unknowingly breaks a 200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires. Pulled into a fantastic life of misunderstood sideshow freaks and grotesque creatures of the night, one teen will vanish from the safety of a boring existence and fulfill his destiny in a place drawn from nightmares.

16-year-old Darren (Chris Massoglia) was like most kids in his suburban neighborhood. He hung out with his best friend, got decent grades and usually stayed out of trouble. But when he and his buddy stumble upon a traveling freak show, things begin to change inside Darren. That's the exact moment when a vampire named Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly) turns him into something, well, bloodthirsty.

Newly undead, he joins the Cirque Du Freak, a touring sideshow filled with monstrous creatures from a snakeboy and a wolfman to a bearded lady (Salma Hayek) and a gigantic barker (Ken Watanabe). As Darren flexes his newfound powers in this dark world, he becomes a treasured pawn between the vampires and their deadlier counterparts. And while trying to survive, one boy will struggle to keep their brewing war from devouring what's left of his humanity.

I don't know what it is about this cryptic image, but I get the feeling New Moon might hold some kind of love triangle involving Vampire Luke Perry, Angry Meathead, and Avril Lavigne Protégé. Don't ask me why. I just have this sense that we're finally going to figure out if girls prefer vampires or werewolves to not have sex with.
