Como é que se consegue gravar um filme no Vaticano quando a Santa Sé proibiu filmagens no interior dos seus muros? A solução encontrada pelos produtores de Anjos e Demónios foi disfarçar os cameramen de turistas para passar semanas dentro do Vaticano a registar em fotografia e vídeo tudo o que conseguiram. Depois, foi "só" recriar digitalmente a Capela Sistina e a Praça de São Pedro, entre outros pontos-chaves da história criada por Dan Brown.
No site do filme, que tem estreia marcada para 15 de Maio, o produtor Allan Cameron explica tudo: "Começamos com mais de 20 pessoas que fotografaram o interior da capela. Tirávamos fotos até que nos mandassem parar. Com essas imagens, criamos uma biblioteca de referência digital. Para a Capela Sistina, recriamos tudo detalhadamente, dos mosaicos no chão às pinturas na parede".
O filme a partir do primeiro best-seller do autor, O código Da Vinci, tinha indignado de tal forma as autoridades religiosas que, desta vez, nem quiseram ler o guião. "O nome 'Dan Brown' é suficiente!, justificou o porta-voz da diocese de Roma, padre Marco Fibbi.
