Disney's a Christmas Carol Trailer Is Here!

Disney has officially unveiled the trailer for their upcoming animated take on the classic Charles Dicken's tale of A Christmas Carol. Take a look!

A Christmas Carol, a multi-sensory thrill ride re-envisioned by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis, captures the fantastical essence of the classic Dickens tale in a groundbreaking 3-D motion picture event.

Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk (Gary Oldman) and his cheery nephew (Colin Firth). But when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take him on an eye-opening journey revealing truths Old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it's too late.

In theaters November 6th, A Christmas Carol stars Jim Carrey, Cary Elwes, Bob Hoskins, Colin Firth, Gary Oldman, Robin Wright Penn, Tom Hanks and Michael J. Fox.

'A Christmas Carol' Poster: God, Another Straight-Up Scrooge Story?

Sure, you may have seen literally hundreds of by-the-books adaptations of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, but have you seen one where sophisticated computer animation is pointlessly used to make the characters and environment look utterly realistic save for some slightly exaggerated features and lifeless eyes? I didn't think so. This immortal classic is going to gain so much from being half a step removed from reality.

Sorry, I'm still bitter at Robert Zemeckis and his semi-realistic animation department's The Polar Express introducing me to Tom Hanks the Nightmare Conductor.

December 25th, a baby boy was born, his name was Jesus.

“Of all things of heaven and earth of which we bear testimony, none is so
important as our witness that Jesus, the Christmas child, condescended to
come to earth from the realms of His Eternal Father, here to work among men
as healer and teacher, our Great Exemplar. And further, and most important,
He suffered on Calvary’s cross as an atoning sacrifice for all mankind. At
this time of Christmas, this season when gifts are given, let us not forget
that God gave His Son, and His Son gave His life, that each of us might have
the gift of eternal life.”

'Tis The Season: Beer Bottle Christmas Trees

With Jesus' surprise roller-skating party just a week away, I thought I'd spread some holiday drunkeness in the form of beer bottle Christmas trees. This first one is made from 1,050 bottles, and there's a video after the jump of a Heineken tree with over 2,000. Also, I added a video of some drunkard making a Jagermeister tree out of a big piece of plywood and airplane bottles. It's amazing the time and effort people put into these things. A thousand bottles, 200 lights, 60 man-hours of labor, and one drunk Geekologie Writer to bring it all crashing down. Feliz cumpleaños, Jesus! And tell Santa I'll post nudey pics of Mrs. Claus if he pulls that coal shit again this year.
