O episódio aconteceu durante uma conferência de imprensa no Festival de Veneza: De boxers e gravata, um jornalista italiano declarou-se a George Clooney.
E se numa conferência de imprensa um jornalista se despisse e dissesse para todo o mundo ouvir: "Sou gay. Beija-me, estou apaixonado por ti!". Foi precisamente isto que aconteceu ao actor George Clooney , durante a apresentação do seu mais recente filme no Festival de Veneza .

Com o microfone em punho, o jornalista italiano, que trabalha num programa humorístico de televisão, tirou a roupa até ficar só de boxers e gravata. Clooney manteve a boa-disposição, deixando os seguranças vacilantes entre expulsar o homem da sala ou continuar a conferência sem fazer do episódio um escândalo.

Com um largo sorriso, o actor demonstrou já estar habituado a estas abordagens. "Não é a primeira vez", disse. "É uma chatice quando tentamos a nossa grande oportunidade e não conseguimos. Seja como for, foi uma bela tentativa". O actor rematou ainda: "Mas a gravata assenta-lhe bem".
